Service Description
Newborn screening tests are a public health service that identify serious but treatable health conditions in newborns. The tests include: •Metabolic Blood test - a few drops of blood are taken from the baby's heel and sent to a lab for analysis. This test screens for many conditions, including cystic fibrosis, sickle cell disease, and metabolic disorders. •Hearing screen -uses a tiny earpiece or microphone to check how the baby responds to sound. •Critical congenital heart disease (CCHD) screen -uses a small sensor attached to a machine called an oximeter to measure the baby's oxygen levels in the hand and foot
